Winfield crash ends in garage

Possible injuries were reported after a Morning Sun driver lost control of their vehicle and slid off the road, through a ditch and into a garage on Monday.

According to a new release, at approximately 12:51 p.m., on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, the single vehicle crash occurred south of Winfield on Oasis Ave.

The crash was a result of Lester Wacker, of Morning Sun, losing control of his Chevrolet and going off the road into a ditch. The pickup continued through the ditch, however, before crashing into a detached garage.

The truck was totaled and damages to the garage are estimated at $8,000. Possible injuries were reported at the scene. The Henry County Sheriff's Office, Winfield Fire and Rescue, Iowa State Patrol and Henry County Ambulance responded to the incident.
