Winfield Hy-Vee Pharmacy holds ribbon-cutting

Winfield’s new Hy-Vee Clinic Pharmacy held a ribbon-cutting on Tuesday to celebrate the opening of the pharmacy.

The Hy-Vee Pharmacy first opened its doors to the public on Friday, Nov. 12.

It’s located at 107 N. Locust St. Winfield.

The facility will operate as a telepharmacy while providing patients with a direct line of communication to a pharmacist.

Inside the pharmacy, there is a room where patients can directly consult with a pharmacist in private. Calling and messaging are both options.

Community members will have the luxury of communicating with a pharmacist without leaving their community.

Winfield Mayor Willie Bender says the new pharmacy is a great new addition to the town as citizens can now receive their prescriptions without driving to Mt. Pleasant.

“It’s a very big convenience for the residence of our community,” Bender said. “This makes it so much easier for everyone who needs a prescription to get it. It’s a service to our community, and we couldn’t be happier to have Hy-Vee join in here in Winfield.”

At the pharmacy, prescriptions are processed much like a standard Hy-Vee retail pharmacy. A pharmacist will verify that the medication is accurate and contains the appropriate dosage.

Following the initial verification process, the prescription may be filled.

After an additional verification check, the patient can then be counseled via iPad.

Patients can access an abundance of services at the clinic.

Services include automated prescription refill ordering, generic medication discount lists, private medication consultations.

Over-the-counter health and convenience-style items also will be available for purchase.

A full-time pharmacist will be on-site 16 hours per month.

The Mt. Pleasant Hy-Vee is the home of the Winfield pharmacy.
