Winter formal dance planned

WASHINGTON — Organizers say they’ll host a free meal and formal dance for people with disabilities.

Event Co-organizer Dawn Garcia said she and Diane Harden weren’t affiliated with any local groups, but wanted to throw a fun event for the community.

“We just want people with special needs to be able to come out and have a good night and dance and talk and have good conversation and good food,” Garcia said. “There are some similar things in our community … but they only happen twice a year, so we thought, ‘Why not throw another one in there?’”

The event is scheduled from 5:30-9 p.m. at KC Hall in Washington on Friday, Jan. 13. Organizers requested that participants RSVP by calling 319-461-8137, or emailing dianeharden58@gmail.com.
