MT. PLEASANT - Halloween arrived early in Mt. Pleasant with Witch Way to Main on Thursday, Oct. 24. About two thousand children arrived with their parents for the trick-or-treating event, which serves as a safe alternative for families. The event, hosted by Mt. Pleasant Chamber Alliance's Main Street, has been held annually for 14 years. According to Lisa Oetken, director of Main Street, the spooky fun-filled evening is the most popular event the organization hosts and is incredibly effective in bringing people from all across Henry County and beyond to Mt. Pleasant. Oetken also noted that many of the shops in the downtown area stayed open longer to accommodate the event, which ran from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
In addition to candy being handed out by local businesses around the main square, children also partook in bounce houses and a costume contest hosted by the local Kiwanis Club. Families tossed footballs in the park and enjoyed the fall evening decked out in costumes.

Pleasant.
