Woman rescued from low-water crossing near Fairfield

FAIRFIELD — A woman was rescued from a low-water crossing near Fairfield Wednesday.
According to a news release from the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office, the Jefferson County Law Center received a 911 call at approximately 9:11 p.m. that day from a caller reporting a female in distress at the low-water crossing off Kale Boulevard south of Fairfield. The caller reported the woman had gone into the water an hour prior and that the caller could no longer see her.
Emergency response personnel from the Fairfield Fire Department arrived on the scene at 9:32 p.m. The woman was heard calling for help downstream from the crossing where she entered the water and was located by responders. She was rescued from Cedar Creek at 9:57 p.m. and evaluated by emergency medical personnel.
The fire department was assisted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Fairfield Police Department, Libertyville First Responders, the Libertyville Fire Department, Jefferson County Emergency Management, and CARE Ambulance.
