Construction will begin Friday, April 1, on the Mapleleaf Drive reconstruction project, according to Warner Engineering, the engineering firm for the project.
Jones Contracting, general contractor for the project, will be working with advanced traffic control to set in motion the closure and will be doing saw cuts and installing erosion control measures.
Mt. Pleasant?s Public Works Department will be erecting detour signs in the coming week. The first closure will be on Mapleleaf Drive from Grand Avenue to the centerline of Harvey Drive.
Detour signs will route traffic onto Iris Street and will access all businesses from Iris onto Mapleleaf, from east of Harvey Drive.
Stage one of the project will take four to five weeks, weather permitting, according to engineers.
Access to all businesses along the frontage road east of Grand Avenue will be from the frontage road at Baker Street and Grand Avenue, or the Winfield Avenue and Grand Avenue intersections.
