What brings you to Washington?
The teaching position. And it was close to my family.
How close?
They live up by Amana.
You majored in Spanish in college?
Yep.
What made you decide to go for Spanish?
I found myself in Mexico and I enjoyed it and I said 'hey, I can teach it.'
How did you find yourself in Mexico?
I had to take advantage of it. I thought it was my one chance to get out of here. It was an exchange program in college. Me and a buddy of mine thought that we should get out of here.
Tell me more about that. What part of Mexico were you in?
I was in studying in Guanajuato, it is basically the center of the Mexican republic, and we just kind of traveled all throughout. We made it to the Yucatan. I was studying the Mayan ruins as well.
Since you have been here in Washington, what do you think of it?
It's great so far. It is one of those places where no matter who you are, they always wave.
What surprised you the most about Washington?
I would have to say I don't know. Actually the Frisbee golf course. That is my hobby.
Tell me about the guitar.
Not much to say, it is how I spend my spare time. I used to have a band in college, now it is just friends getting together. Get together and strum.
What kind of music do you like to play?
It depends on the day. We used to do a lot of covers. We did a lot of Clapton, Hendrix, Radiohead. A lot of Who. Now we don't plug in as much, we just go acoustic and write our own music.
What do you think of the school district?
It is great. I've had a lot of fun so far. They are very supportive.
If you could change one thing about Washington what would it be?
Instead of a nine-hole Frisbee golf course they should have 18 holes.
