This week?s ?Friend on the Front Page? is Dave Schneider.
Are you originally from Mt. Pleasant/Henry County? If not, what brought you here? I?m originally from Ft. Madison and moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1973 when I began working at Motorola as an electronics technician.
What is your favorite part of living here? The small town atmosphere. It?s been a great place to raise a family.
What is your favorite local hangout? During the high school marching band season my favorite hangout is the Mt. Pleasant High School marching band field. I go to all the early morning practices and travel with the band wherever they go. I enjoy helping Mr. DePriest. He?s a great guy to hang out with. And the kids are so fun to be around. They are a great group. I really like helping the music department and Music Boosters.
Is there an annual event in Mt. Pleasant/Henry County that you enjoy? There are actually two ? the annual Mt. Pleasant Marching Band Invitational and the Show Choir Invitational ?Music in Motion.? I love watching all the creatives hows the bands and show choirs perform. I also volunteer at these events.
What is your favorite spring time activity? Planting a garden.
What?s one dish or drink that reminds you of Mt. Pleasant? Tenderloins.
Tell us something interesting about you? In high school I seriously considered being a music major and becoming a band director. I also thought of a career in journalism, like being a newspaper writer/photographer. But in the early 70s the technical world was a growing industry so that?s what I chose, though now in retirement I pursue my other passions in photography and music.
