This week?s ?Friend on the Front Page? is Abbie Liechty.
Are you originally from Mt. Pleasant/Henry County? If not, what brought you here? Yes, I am born and raised just south of town near Oakland Mills.
What is your favorite part of living here? I love the small town. I enjoy going out in town and running into people I have known since I was a child.
What is your favorite local hangout? I don?t have a favorite place to hang out, just wherever my friends are like at sporting events and the cabin.
What do you do in your free time? In my free time, I really like playing and watching sports and fixing or building houses and garages. I also enjoy riding four wheelers with my friends.
Is there an event in Mt. Pleasant/Henry County you most enjoy? Old Threshers is my favorite time of the year. I have worked with my grandma and grandpa at the Log Village for six years, except the year I was a contestant in the Sweet 16 Volunteer Pageant.
Is there something Mt. Pleasant doesn?t have that you would like to see? Not really. I love Mt. Pleasant as is.
What is one dish or drink that reminds you of Mt. Pleasant? Every time I see caramel apples or kettle corn, I immediately think of Mt. Pleasant and Old Threshers.
Tell us something interesting about you. I am a student at the University of Iowa with hopes of one day becoming a city manager. I am doing an internship this summer with College Works Painting. For this internship, I am being trained to run my own painting business that serves Mt. Pleasant, Burlington and Ft. Madison. My goal for this internship is to gain real-life experience to advance my professional career.
