BRIGHTON — The First Church of God in Brighton and Richland Friends Church youth groups have assembled food boxes for their communities, with funding from the Brighton Lions Club.
First Church of God Congregation Member Jodi Meader said she expected the group to assemble roughly 20 of the boxes, after kids went door-to-door to collect nonperishables, while organizers ordered other contents from a food pantry. Youths didn’t just fill and deliver the boxes: they brought in names to decide who would receive the packages.
“Giving back to the community is always the best thing to do,” Meader said. “If we can help these kiddos … reach out and show God’s love to others, that’s really important.”
Meader said the boxes did not yet have a date of distribution, but that it would likely fall sometime between Dec. 16 and 20.
