MT. PLEASANT — Over 15 years of operation, Zeglen Construction has mostly worked on residential contracts with only a few commercial contracts under its belt.
Now Rob Zeglen, the owner of Zeglen Construction, and a handful of workers are finishing one of the larger projects of their career, the Mt. Pleasant Childcare Center. The project has taken almost six months from start to finish with the center planning on opening its doors July 6.
After having to demolish the interior, reframe, dry wall, lay duct work, electrical, reroute plumbing and more the project is nearing completion.
Zelgen wasn’t daunted by the scale of the project even though he normally does residential construction.
“Building is pretty much the same, it’s just on a bigger scale,” Zeglen said.
Zeglen said he has enjoyed working on the child care center and bringing a meaningful addition to Mt. Pleasant.
“It’s been a great experience working here at the center, we started in January with some demolition work and doing finishing touches now, so it’s been a great process,” Zeglen said.
Zeglen has helped Amy McLaughlin the child care center director make her dream become a reality, taking care of the center from start to finish.
After starting in the construction trade, Zeglen eventually became a small-business owner and was able to take his construction experience into directions that he was passionate about. He enjoyed learning new techniques, staying on top of the current products and ways to apply those to his business.
The Olds-based business has served Henry County and the surrounding counties in more than one way.
Zeglen and his wife, Katherine, are involved in multiple organizations.
Zeglen has been successful at not only growing his business but also balancing his family and his community service. He is not only a small-business owner. He is a husband, father, Olds City Council member, volunteer firefighter, church group youth leader and has even plays Santa Claus.
“My wife and I love serving Henry County and the communities. we love giving to our community and helping out in the community any way we can,” Zeglen said.
He volunteers at Midwest Old Threshers and currently serves as the Mt. Pleasant boys varsity golf coach.
Zeglen has learned that to build a trusted clientele, you must first establish that you care about the community where you live. A Zeglen Construction customer put it this way: “Rob runs his business with integrity and professionalism. He treats both his customers and his workers with respect.”
