Abigail P. Schrock, age 96, of Kalona, Iowa, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025, at the Washington County Hospital.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2025, at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Dane Dickinson officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Abigail was born February 18, 1929, in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Jose and Guadalupe (Toledo) Perez. She graduated from St. James Catholic School and attended Drake University. Abigail received her associate’s degree in business from Des Moines Area Community College. She was united in marriage to Stanley E. Schrock on June 11, 1955, in Washington, Iowa.
Abigail lived in Washington, Iowa, until 1969 when the family moved to Altoona, Iowa. She resided in Altoona until 1995 when the family moved to Kalona, Iowa. She worked for Iowa Southern Utilities in Washington and later at Valley National Bank in Altoona for a number of years. She later worked in the cafeteria at Kalona Elementary School in Kalona. She volunteered her time at Earthly Blessings.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Washington. Abigail enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. She spent hours working in her garden until she was 94 years old. She was known for her tea rings and her homemade hot sauce.
Abigail is survived by her daughter, Stacey Schrock and Chris of Altoona, Iowa; son, Sean Schrock of Indianola, Iowa; granddaughter Stephannie Schrock and significant other James of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and grandson, Zackary Schrock and wife Lauren of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley in 2013; son, Stanlee in 2023; sister, Raquel (Richard) Gray; brother, Adolph Joseph (Josephine) Perez; sister, Nancy (Frank) Anguiano; and three infant brothers, Paul, Albert and Joseph.
