WILLIAMSBURG ? Alan ?Al? Jay Barnes, 56, of China, died Sunday, July 3, 2016.
A gathering of family and friends was held from 3 until 5 p.m., Saturday, July 9, at Broussard?s, located at 1605 North Major Drive in Beaumont, Texas. A celebration of his life followed, from 5:30 until 8 p.m., Saturday at the Elks Lodge No. 311 in Beaumont. Those attending were asked to bring their motorcycles, muscle cars, and hot rods to put on display in his memory. A family committal was held at Broussard?s Crematorium.
Mr. Barnes was born Oct. 20, 1959, in Oskaloosa, the son of Margaret Jean Rice and Larry Robert Barnes.
He attended Rock Island High School in Rock Island, Illinois, and graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in Wellman with the Class of 1978.
Surviving are his life partner, Lisa Matthews of China; his father, Larry Barnes and wife Carol of Geneseo, Illinois; his stepfather, Bob Nunn of Beaumont, Texas; one son, J.C. Reynolds of New Braunfels, Texas; one daughter, Kylee Matthews of Beaumont, Texas; one stepdaughter, Kiera Linney; three grandchildren; one sister, Shari Morotti and husband John of Chandler, Arizona; one brother, Bill Barnes of Beaumont, Texas; one stepsister, Kelly Hatcher of Geneseo, Illinois; one stepbrother, Craig Hatcher of Colona, Illinois; one niece; two nephews; and one great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Jean Nunn; his grandfather, Lloyd Rice; his grandmother, Laverna Rice; and one stepbrother, Kerry Hatcher.
