Alan 'Lee' Schooley

Alan "Lee" Schooley, 73, of Brighton, died of lung cancer at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City Friday, Jan. 21, 2005.

      The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 26, at the Brighton United Church with the Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton. Visitation will be from 1 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 25, at the Gould Funeral Home in Brighton with family present from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Hospice of Washington County and the Brighton United Church.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Michael and his wife Cindi Schooley of Columbia, Mo., Martin and his wife Mary Schooley of Vernon Hills, Ill., Murray and his wife Shawn Schooley of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Monte and his wife Missy Schooley of Iowa City; seven grandchildren; a brother, Stan and his wife Marti Schooley of Brighton; and two sisters, Virginia Hendriks of Bowden, Alberta, Canada, and Helen and her husband Robert Filmore of Burlington.

      He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Norman Schooley.
