Albert C. Rickard
Albert C. Rickard, 52, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, went to be with his Lord, on Wednesday, Oct. 3.
Visitation will be held from 12 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Crawford officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Mills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Calvary Baptist Church and to Hospice of Central Iowa. Online condolences may be sent to www.olsonpowell.com.
Born March 10, 1955, in Carthage, Ill., Albert was the son of Allan H. and Agnes F. Schreiber Rickard. Mr. Rickard graduated from Hamilton High School in 1973. He attended Southeastern Community College, where he received a Machine Shop Diploma and earned his Associates of Applied Science degree in Mechanical Technology. On Oct. 27, 1979, he married Terri Marie Mulkey at the West Burlington Christian Church.
Albert worked at Heatilator for 29 years as a journeyman tool and dye maker. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and worked with the Awana Club and church youth. He could fix or build anything. He enjoyed flying airplanes and started building his own aircraft. Albert was a weightlifter and worked out when he was healthy and loved spending time outdoors. He especially enjoyed attending his children's gymnastic meets, watching them achieve many honors for outstanding performances.
Along with his wife, Mr. Rickard is survived by one son, Asa Rickard of Mt. Pleasant, and one daughter, Ana Whitfield and her husband William of Logan, Utah; three brothers, Allan Rickard and his wife Barbara of Cedar Rapids, Anthony Rickard and his wife Pam of Warsaw, Ill.; Arthur Rickard and his wife Donna of Hamilton, Ill.; four sisters, Alice Rickard of St. Louis, Mo., Arlene Rickard of Corrales, N.M., Anita Heston and her husband Bill of Wilmington, N.C., and Annette Menna and her husband Bill of Austin, Texas. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Mike Mulkey, of Oregon City, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
