Albert Earnest Long, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Salem, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at Park Place Long Term Care Unit of Mt. Pleasant.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant, with the family present. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., with Pastors Titus Boggs and Nathan Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Salem East Cemetery.

Born July 30, 1920 in Salem, Albert was the son of Harold M. and Lona B. McDowell Long. He graduated from Pleasant Lawn High School. He worked at Lincoln School for many years as a custodian. He also provided janitorial services at Cargill Seed Company and Ceco.
Albert was a member of Salem Friends Church and taught Sunday School for several years. He enjoyed making angel food cakes and spent many hours making latch hook rugs and pictures. Albert loved all kinds of sports.
He is survived by his sister, Helen Henthorn and her husband Bill of Mt. Pleasant; his aunt, Marjorie Smith of Salem, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
His parents, twin brother Delbert Long, and sister Evelyn King preceded him in death.
