Aletha Maxine Kelemen, 95, of Coralville, Iowa, formerly of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Windmill Manor in Coralville, Iowa.
The family will be present to receive friends at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home from
10 until 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2021. Private family graveside services will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Washington County Developmental Center (WCDC). Online condolences may be sent for Maxine's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.
Aletha Maxine was born July 21, 1926, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Leo Charles and Jessie Mae (Hesseltine) Mangold. She graduated from Washington High School in 1944. Maxine was married to Oscar W. Kelemen on November 30, 1991, in Washington. She was previously married to Dean Moore.
Maxine lived most of her life in Washington, Iowa, before moving to Chetek, Wisconsin in 1991. In 2005 she moved to Napoleon, Missouri, where she resided until returning to Iowa in 2019. She worked for Mattes Tax Service retiring in 1991. She previously worked at the Washington Evening Journal for 18 years and Hensel Latta Harris and Yotty CPA's for five years. She served as Secretary of the WCDC Board for many years; Treasurer of the Council of Religious Affairs and was very active in Camp REECE.
She is survived by daughter, Sandra (Richard) Myren of Sun Lake, Arizona; daughter, Rita Moore of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Cynthia Moore of Iowa City, Iowa; daughter, Deborah Rice of Oak Grove, Missouri; six grandchildren, Holly Moore of Tomball, Texas, Chris Moore of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Sean Gray of Blue Springs, Missouri, Betsy Maiden of Mesa, Arizona, Angie Gray of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Bryan Rice of Independence, Missouri; several great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oscar Kelemen; and one great-granddaughter, Whitney Gray.
The family would like to thank the staff of Windmill Manor and special friend Sandy Deatsch for the exceptional care provided to Maxine the past two years.
