Alfred Woodrow Wasson
Alfred Woodrow Wasson, 87, of West Plains, Mo., and formerly of Danville, died Friday, July 14, 2000, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains.
The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, at Elliott Chapel of New London with the Rev. Matt Miller officiating. Burial will be in Jaggar Cemetery of Danville. Visitation will be after noon on Tuesday, July 18, at Elliott Chapel with family present from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorials may be made to West Plains Senior Citizens Center and the New London High School Music Department.
Mr. Wasson was born December 22, 1912 in Roscoe, the son of Ralph and Clara Toft Wasson. He married Edith Wilke on May 30, 1938, in Burlington, then was married to Lola Lee for ten years, then Naomi Hilbert for ten years, each of whom preceded him in death. At the time of his death he was married to Margaret Gwen Burke.
He was a 1930 graduate of New London High School, served on the USS Myrant destroyer in the South Pacific during World War II, and had a paint and wallpaper business. He was a member of the Danville Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sandra Pope of Cary, Ill., and Carolyn Horn of Edna, Texas; one brother, Everett Wasson of New London; one sister, Dorothy Warth of New London; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, and a nephew.
