Alice Lorraine Droll, 87, of Ainsworth, Iowa, passed away, Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at Halcyon House in Washington, Iowa.
Celebration of Life
services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 19, at the Marr Park Conservation Center, with Pastor Jason Collier officiating. The family will be present to receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. and following the service until 5 p.m. Interment will be held at Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Ainsworth Opera House Community Center and St. Judes Children's Hospital. Online condolences may be sent for Alice's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.
Alice was born Oct. 26, 1932, in Menlo, Iowa, to George B. and B. Mabel (Ward) Howell. Mabel later divorced George Howell and married Arthur (Art) Havel and together they raised Alice. Alice graduated from Ainsworth High School. She was united in marriage to Charles "Bud" William Droll on July 15, 1950, in Washington, Iowa.
Alice resided in Ainsworth most of her life and worked as a bank teller and manager at the Ainsworth Bank for 29 years until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of the Ainsworth Community Church. She loved spending time with her family and celebrating the holidays and other family special events. Reading, dancing, baking pies, making cookies, and her grandchildren were her favorite interests.
She is survived by her best friend, Jim Arthur, along with his family, and her five daughters, Sherrie Hazen-Hansen (Jim) of Ainsworth, Iowa, Chris (Dick) Sieren of Amarillo, Texas, Laurie Haeder and friend Doug Rebik of Des Moines, Jennie (Duane) Gerot of Ainsworth, Iowa, and Bev (Jim) Skovgard of Casper, Wyoming.; 18 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She also is survived by her brother-in-law, Don Droll of Monte Vista, Colorado; sisters-in-law, Karen Droll of Concrete, Washington, and Marilyn Lewis of Newburg, Oregon; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Arthur (Art) Havel; her husband in 2004; one sister, Geraldine Howell; brothers-in-law, Marvin Droll, Terry Lewis, Carl Kallaus, Joe Wood and Don Boileau; and sisters-in-law, Norma Kallaus, Mabel Wood, Joanne Thom and Marie Boileau.
