Alice was born Nov. 4, 1920, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Henry J. and Alice Amelia (Bjork) Kiene. Alice attended school in Ainsworth, Iowa. She and a girlfriend followed boyfriends to Colorado in 1942, where she was united in marriage to Garold Wehr on Jan. 1, 1943. Garold was killed in action on Sept. 22, 1944, and buried in France. She later married Loren Eugene Moore on Oct. 28, 1948, in Washington, Iowa.
Alice was a life-long resident of Washington County. She was a nanny for a local doctor in Washington for a couple years. She worked as a sales clerk at Mason Hardware for many years. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, St. Rita's Circle, Catholic Daughters and was an active member of Y Women. She was a 4-H and Bluebird leader and loved crafts, sewing, crocheting, gardening, and games, especially playing cards. Alice and Loren retired to Halcyon House in 2005 and Alice continued there on her own after Loren's death in 2012. She celebrated her 100th birthday in November 2020 with her family from Iowa. At this party, she shared and reminisced about her years growing up on farms near Ainsworth and Crawfordsville.
She is survived by her son, Larry Wehr (Pamela) of Boise, Idaho; daughter, Linda Helling (John) of Harlan, Iowa; son, Kelvin Moore (Sara) of Centennial, Colo.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ernest Kiene of Oak Park Heights, Minn., and Joseph Kiene of Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
