Allen Patterson Atkinson

      Allen Patterson Atkinson, 84, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Washington, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006 in his residence in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness.

      Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17 in the Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington with the Rev. Bob Voels officiating. Interment with military honors conducted by American Legion Post No. 29 will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home where the family will receive friends until the time of the service. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice of Cedar Rapids.

      Mr. Atkinson was born June 26, 1922 in Washington, the son of Mark Dale and Cora Mabel (Marsh) Atkinson. He married Virginia Ruth Humston on June 14, 1942 in Kirksville, Mo.
