Alva Baker

KEOTA - Alva Baker, 87, of Keota, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, in Halcyon House in Washington following a brief illness.

      Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, in Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemeteries - Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Clear Creek Township. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the Powell Funeral Home in Keota. There will be a wake service at 5 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery Fund.

      Mr. Baker was born Aug. 29, 1921 in Clear Creek Township, Keokuk County, the son of Peter and Ursula (Redlinger) Baker. He married Isabelle Hammes on Nov. 27, 1946 in Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in rural Harper.
