Anita Elizabeth Spenler Hesseltine

Anita Elizabeth Spenler Hesseltine, 98, of Washington, Iowa, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a brief illness.

A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with the Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating. Burial will follow at Eicher Cemetery in rural Wayland.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

A memorial fund has been established for The American Legion.

Mrs. Hesseltine was born July 17, 1912, in Lamar, Mo., the daughter of Christian William and Margaret Wittrig Spenler. She married Clarence Hesseltine in April 1930. He died Dec. 20, 1988.
