Anita M. Lister, age 84, of Washington, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 13, 2024, in Washington.
Celebration of life services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2024, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating. Calling hours will begin 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County. Anita was born August 18, 1939, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Ray and Marguerite (Shafer) Musgrove. She attended school in Washington, Iowa. Anita was married to Lawrence Farrington on March 23, 1957. They later divorced. She was then united in marriage to Jarold W. “Dub” Lister on January 27, 1990.
Anita lived most of her life in the Wayland and Washington communities. She worked at the McCleery Cumming Calendar Factory, Perfex and lastly at ACT in Iowa City. She enjoyed camping and spending time with the Wednesday girls, her sisters and her family. Anita enjoyed attending the Stock Car Races in Knoxville.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicky Farrington-Howrey and husband Bill of Washington, Iowa; son, Rick Farrington of Iowa City, Iowa; son, Randy Farrington and wife Jan of Brighton, Iowa; daughter, Rhonda Lister of Sandwich, Illinois; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; four sisters: Connie Tresslar of North Liberty, Iowa; Dianna Kaufman and husband Kenny of Wayland, Iowa; Pamela Brackin and significant other Brian Crooks of Washington, Iowa; Cheri Musgrove of Washington, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Jarold W. “Dub” Lister.
