Ann was born March 19, 1952, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of David Henry and Betty Louise (McLandsborough) Davis. She graduated from WACO High School in 1970 and attended Southeastern Community College in Burlington, Iowa. Ann was united in marriage to Duane Lewis on June 18, 1971, in Crawfordsville, Iowa.
Early in her career, Ann worked for the Washington Evening Journal and Columbus Gazette. She then transitioned to home child care while raising her growing family. When the girls were older, she became a Legal Secretary at Day, Meeker, Lamping, Schlegel and Salazar Law Office in Washington, Iowa. In 2019, after working for them for 29 years, she retired and worked part time at Integrity Abstract, also in Washington. She was known as “Avon Annie” having been an Avon Representative for over 30 years. But what a lot of people will remember Ann for, are the delicious cakes that she created, whether it was for birthdays, graduations, weddings or other special occasions.
She was an active member of the United Church of Crawfordsville where she served on the Membership and Mission Committees, assisted with the Annual Harvest Supper, and was a member of the church sewing group. Ann was a 4-H leader for the Clovertones 4-H club and volunteered at the Washington County Fair in the Home Economics Division. In high school, she played basketball and softball. After graduation, she enjoyed playing slow pitch softball, fishing, spending time with her family, and watching Hallmark movies.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Duane Lewis of Crawfordsville, Iowa; daughter, Wendy (Derek) Imhoff of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Alisha (Levi) Kelley of Wellman, Iowa; daughter Emily (Scott) Boylan of Crawfordsville, Iowa; six grandchildren: Bradley and Orie Imhoff; Cecil and Leah Kelley; and Ryleigh and Avery Boylan. She is also survived by her brother, Bruce Davis of Crawfordsville, Iowa; sister, Janet (Earnest) Whiting of Columbus Junction, Iowa; brother, Scott (Jeanne) Davis of Crawfordsville, Iowa; brother, Steve (Pam) Davis of Crawfordsville, Iowa; sister, Jill (Randy) DeYarman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sister, Nancy (Sanford) Rugg of Crawfordsville, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as sisters-in-law, Connie (Kenny) Meyer of Wickenburg, Arizona; and Sandy (Jeff) Suter of Washington, Iowa.
