ANN ROYAL SKOPIN

Ann loved music sewing, art and travel with John, her husband of 55 years. Their children: Jeanne Thomas (husband Toby), Laurie Wild (husband Joe) and Emily Orme-Johnson (husband Nate and son David), all miss her terribly. Ann also is survived by her younger sister, Martha Grossenbacher (husband Tom).

Ann's 30 year career as an educator culminated in a professorship and director of the Gerontology Department at Columbus State Community College-a program she developed and was the only one of its kind in Columbus, Ohio. She was most proud of this professional achievement and enjoyed generously assisting other colleges create their own similar programs. Ann was sustained by giving her time and nurturing support to her students. John remembers many calls from students in the evening at home, which Ann warmly accepted to reassure and encourage.

In 2003, Ann and John retired from their respective college teaching careers to move to Fairfield, Iowa, to be close to family. They traveled extensively in retirement, relished watching their grandson grow up and loved spending time with family.
