Anna J. McCabe

Anna Jean McCabe, 91, of Burlington, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, at her home.

Visitation began at noon today, Feb. 1, at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Burge Ceremony in New London, with Caleb Sampson officiating.

Memorials have been established for the Church of Christ and Great River Hospice. Elliott Chapel of New London is assisting with arrangements.

She was born May 19, 1916, in Des Moines County, the daughter of Arthur and Elisa Downer Conn. On Sept. 28, 1938, she married Frank R. McCabe in Burlington.

Having attended Latty and Sperry schools, she was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by three daughters, Betty Wixom and her husband Francis of West Burlington, Karen McCabe of Burlington, and Minnie Shinn and her husband Gene of Burlington; two sisters, Mary Meyer and Maxine Nelson of Burlington; three stepsons, Bill McCabe and his wife Erma and Charles McCabe and his wife Virginia, all of New London, and Bob McCabe and his wife Ella of Florida; five grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Her parents, husband, three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
