Anna M. (Miller) Peiffer, 86, of Kalona, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2020, at Pleasantview in Kalona. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at Kalona Mennonite Church. The service will be available via livestream on the Beatty Peterseim Facebook page. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at the church. Social distancing guidelines will be in place. A memorial fund has been established for the Pleasantview Building Fund. Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Anna Mae Miller was born March 18, 1934, in Kalona, Iowa, the daughter of Paris L and Lydia (Briskey) Miller. She attended Prairie Dale rural school. She was united in marriage to Enos "Herb" Miller. The couple later divorced. On Jan. 8, 1983, she was united in marriage to Charles "Chuck" Peiffer. Anna worked as a cashier at JW's grocery store and at the Kalona Bakery and as a tour guide for the Kalona Historical Society. She was a member of the First Christian church in Washington. Anna enjoyed leading Bible studies, being outdoors in nature, spending time with her grandchildren and Miller family gatherings.
Survivors include three children, Karen (Dean) Schrock of Kalona, Julie (Joe) Sojka of Tiffin and Terry Miller of Washington; seven stepchildren, Dan (Bunny) Peiffer of Harper, Tony Peiffer (Paul Davis) of Maui, Hawaii, Fred Peiffer of Kalona, Randy (Carla) Peiffer, Kevin Peiffer and Pat Peiffer, all of Washington, and Judy (Rob) Wooldrik of Denver, Colo.; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alma Hershberger, Sally (John) Hershberger and Marilyn (Derald) Bender, all of Kalona; and two sisters-in-law, Ruby Miller of Kalona and Karen Miller of Iowa City.
Preceding Anna in death were her parents; her husband, Chuck; four brothers, Henry (Ella), Robert, Milton, Owen and Charles "Chip" Miller; and one brother-in-law, John D. Hershberger.
