Archie Jacob Kaufman
Archie Jacob Kaufman, 80, of Washington, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington, after failing in health for the past few months.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington with the Rev. Ron McMenamin officiating. Visitation will begin at noon on Thursday, Nov. 16, at the Jones Eden Funeral Home with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery of Washington. Memorials may be made to the United Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Kaufman was born March 27, 1920, the son of Louie and Verna Boese Kaufman. He married Mary Lou Goodwin on Dec. 20, 1940, at Washington. A lifelong resident of Washington and Wayland, he graduated from Wayland High School, farmed in the two communities before retiring, and was a member of the Farm Bureau. He served as an elder of the United Presbyterian Church and was a member of the building committee when the church was built.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ronald and Janet Kaufman of Washington, Wayne and Rebecca Kaufman of Washington, and Louis and Liza Kaufman of Urbandale, Ill.; a daughter, Donna Kaufman of Washington; two brothers, Richard Kaufman of Washington and Larry Kaufman of Olds; three sisters, Marie Blakestead of Humboldt, Verlee Wylie of Washington and Velda Hammel of Big Rapids, Mich.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Vernon Kaufman.
