Arden Daniel Miller

      KALONA - Arden Daniel Miller, 57, of Washington, formerly of Kalona, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2007, in the Washington County Hospital following a lengthy illness.

      Celebration of Life services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, in the Sharon Bethel Church in rural Kalona with the Rev. Delmar Bontrager officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the church, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. A general memorial fund has been established. Yoder-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Kalona is in charge of the arrangements.

      Mr. Miller was born Oct. 28, 1950, near Kalona, the son of Edward F. and Sarah (Mast) Miller.

      He attended hospital school in Iowa City. He lived at REM in Kalona several years before moving to Washington. He attended Nelson Adult Center, Systems Unlimited and WCDC and enjoyed music.

      Surviving are his mother, Sarah Helmuth and husband Eli of Kalona; one brother, David lee Miller and wife Martha of Kalona; five sisters, Lucy Stoltzfoos and husband Roman of Lancaster, Pa., Elaine Miller of Kalona, Evelyn Miller and husband Steven of Hutchinson, Kan., Nancy Miller of Iowa City, and Louise Miller of Kalona; 26 nieces and nephews; three great-nieces; and three great-nephews.

      He was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Mary Catherine Miller; and two brothers in infancy.
