Arlene Clement, 103, of Washington, Iowa, formerly
of Ainsworth, Iowa, died Saturday, January 2, 2021, at the United Presbyterian
Home in Washington.
Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. The family will be present at the funeral home
to receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will take place at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Paws and More Animal Shelter in Washington, Iowa. Online condolences may be sent for Arlene's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.
Arlene was born July 17, 1917, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Gertrude (Wagner) Easter. Arlene graduated from Washington High School and received her Teaching Certificate from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught school for a few years prior to her marriage to Floyd L. Edwards on May 7, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1984. Arlene later married Leland Clement at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Arlene worked as a cook for the Highland Community School District for 16 years. She previously worked at Pepperidge Farm Bakery in Iowa City. She lived most of her life in the Ainsworth area and moved to Newton, Iowa, with her husband, Leland. Arlene moved to Washington, Iowa, in 2001. She enjoyed raising her family and dancing, participating in the Neighborhood Social Club, and having weekly lunches with her friends. She loved caring for and spending time with her Yorkies.
She is survived by son, Richard Allen Edwards of Arizona; daughter, Betty Schrader and friend Floyd of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; son, Robert Edwards and wife Cindy of Ainsworth, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Ann Edwards of Washington, Iowa.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd and husband Leland; son, Donald Edwards; and daughter, Ruth Ann Drummond.
