Arlene Jones, 98, of Washington

Arlene Jones, 98, of Washington, formerly of the Ainsworth area, died Saturday, April 9, 2011, in the McCreedy Home in Washington following a short illness.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with the Rev. Dorothy Halverson officiating. Burial will be in the Cambrian Cemetery. Visitation began at noon today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. A general memorial has been established.

Mrs. Jones was born Sept. 30, 1912, in Cotter, the daughter of Richard and Esther (Williams) Arthur. She married J. Darold Jones on March 16, 1939, in Cotter

She graduated from Cotter High School in 1931. She was employed at the post office in Ainsworth and also worked at the Ainsworth Four Corners Restaurant. She was a lifelong member of the Cotter Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, and the Cotter Guild, where she served as past president. She enjoyed writing letters, notes and cards and receiving mail.

Surviving are one son, Allen Jones and wife Marlene of Ainsworth; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1991; two brothers, Kenneth, and Irvin; and one grandson-in-law.
