Arlene Wilson Zimpleman was born March 24, 1926, in Mallard, Iowa the daughter of Leroy and Evelyn Leuer. She attended catholic school and graduated from Mallard High School in 1944. She received her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and taught at a country school in Estherville for one year. On February 18, 1947, Arlene was united in marriage to Joe Bryan Wilson in Mallard. To this union they were blessed with six children, David, Jeffrey, Melissa, Joseph, Tobias and Bryan. Joe passed away in 1973. On July 8, 1978, she married J. Henry “Hank” Zimpleman in Indianola. Arlene was a clerk with the U.S. Postal Service in Williamsburg for 5 years and a teacher’s aide for the Williamsburg Public Schools. Arlene was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church in Williamsburg and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed golfing and gardening. Arlene died on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg at the age of 98 years.

She is survived by her children: David Wilson (Beverly) of Grand Junction, CO., Melissa Daggett (Bill) of Des Moines, Jeffrey Wilson of Williamsburg, Joe Wilson (LeAnn) of Parnell, and Tobias Wilson of Williamsburg. Her grandkids, scattered over many states, are Suzie Daggett, Rachel Wilson, Teri Reese, Annie Marske, Bobbi Jo Jaime and Hannah Hammes, who provided her with 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 am on Friday, September 13, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williamsburg. Visitation will be on Friday from 10 am until service time. There will be a rosary at 9:30 am. Burial will be held at a later date, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mallard, IA. Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg.
