Arlo J. Watson

      Arlo J. Watson, 90, of Fairfield, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

      A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield with Del Curtis officiating. Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Jan. 23. Burial of cremains will be at a later date. Memorials have been established to the Nelson Nursing Home.

      Mr. Watson was born Dec. 25, 1910, in Stockport, the son of Sylvanus and Mary Etta Turner Watson. He married Margaret Elliott Watson Oct. 31, 1934 in Ottumwa, who preceded him in death on June 10, 2000. He lived most of his life in the Van Buren and Henry County area, was a farmer and logger, and enjoyed doing outdoor activities.

      Survivors include one daughter, Joy E. Rickey of Fairfield; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Watson of Florida; and one sister, Mary Burnett of Burlington. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, a sister and a grandson.
