Arthur Barry Henie, 85, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, at the VA Hospital in Iowa City.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021, at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, Iowa. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A general memorial has been established. Arthur was born Dec. 10, 1935, in Ketchikan, Alaska, the son of Barney Berg and Effie Milton. He was adopted and raised by Iver Henie. Arthur graduated from Ketchikan High School and served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Starr Marie Gallagher in August of 1989 in Sitka, Alaska.

Arthur worked at a pulp mill, and was a commercial fisherman, handyman and custodian. He loved all kinds of music, reading, watching old western films and walking. He enjoyed socializing and never met a stranger. Arthur always had a smile on his face.

He is survived by his wife, Starr Henie of Washington, Iowa; son, Douglas Henie and wife Cindy of Chugiak, Alaska; daughter, Roxanne Yancey of Hoover, Ala.; daughter, Crystal Barringer and husband Robert of Rio Rancho, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Timothy Warwick; and sister, Florence Hammond.
