Audrey "Aurelie" Burns,
91, of Fairfield, passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, at Sunnybrook Living Care Center. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Behner Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at First Baptist Church with Pastor John Kermott officiating. After the service, she will be cremated. Burial of cremains will be at a later date at Glasgow Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Baptist Church or Hospice Compassus. Cards and memorials can be mailed to 504 E. Fillmore, Fairfield, IA 52556.
Aurelie was born Oct. 7, 1928, in Jefferson County, to Lloyd and Lucille (Danielson) Blucher. She married Floyd Lorraine Burns on Aug. 9, 1946, in Nashua. They celebrated 71 years of marriage before he passed away April 9, 2018. To this marriage was born Cheryl, Darrell and Stephen.
Aurelie worked at Hy-Vee as a meat wrapper for 17 years. Prior to Hy-Vee, she worked in the Parsons College book store. Aurelie made each one of her kids and grandkids a quilt. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Gideons and Hospital Auxiliary. She will be missed by those who called her mom, grandma, great-grandma, aunt and friend.
Left to share Aurelie's memory are her children, Cheryl Almack of Burlington, Darrell (Barb) Burns of Sheldon and Stephen Burns of Fairfield; 10 grandchildren, Sean Almack, Cynthia (Aaron) Almack-Panvelle, Christopher (Brenda) Almack, Dacia (Chris) O'Connor, Scott (Laurie) Karlson, Kristi Karlson, Kelli (Trevor) Gottola, Jeff Karlson, Seth (April) Burns and Jared (Shana) Burns; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Lucille; her husband, Floyd; one grandchild, Bryce Burns; one great-grandchild, Atticus Burns; and two sisters, Agatha Wehrle and Ethelda West.
