August W. Grothe
WINFIELD-August W. Grothe, 85, of rural Winfield, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, at home.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 15, at 10:30 a.m., at Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Philip Borleske officiating. A private family burial will be in Swedesburg Church Cemetery prior to the service. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, at Honts Funeral Home in Winfield, with family present from 2 to 3: 30 p.m. A memorial has been established for the Swedesburg Church.
Mr. Grothe was born on July 2, 1918, in West Burlington, to Charles and Minnie (Mumme) Grothe. On Sept. 5, 1954, he married Avalin Spanhut in Burlington.
