Austin Allen Chalupa, 22, of Fairfield, Iowa, formerly of Washington, passed from this life on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 11 AM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Open visitation will be held Wednesday, June 29, from noon until 7 PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will greet friends from 5 – 7 PM. A general memorial fund has been established.

Austin Chalupa was born February 10, 2000, in Iowa City, the son of Todd Chalupa and Rachael (Boethel) Harsch. He attended Washington and Mid-Prairie Schools. Austin was a hard worker, working in construction and concrete. He loved his family and his dogs and steak and potatoes. He will be remembered as a funny, polite, helpful guy who had a huge heart.

Survivors include his parents: Todd Chalupa of Washington, Iowa, Rachael (Kevin) Harsch of Washington, Iowa, siblings: Cera Harsch, Blake Chalupa, Jesse Harsch and Jasmine Wenger, all of Washington, Iowa, Nick Harsch of Bloomfield, Iowa, and Megan (Justin) Bassett of Drakesville, Iowa, paternal grandparents: Diane Chalupa of Washington, Iowa, Duane Chalupa of Keota, Iowa, and maternal grandfather: Bruce Dempsey of Memphis, Missouri.

Preceding Austin in death was his maternal grandmother, Wilma Dempsey.
