Barbara A. “Barb” Bartholomew, 69, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, March 17, 2023, at the Washington County Hospital following a sudden illness.
Calling hours will begin 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Private family graveside services will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Barb was born February 17, 1954, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Merle Dale “Fizz” and Lucille (Lance) Warner. She attended school in Washington graduating from Washington High School in 1972. Barb then attended Cosmetology School. She was united in marriage to Steven J. Bartholomew on December 16, 1972, in Washington, Iowa.
Barb was a life resident of Washington, Iowa, where she worked as a cosmetologist at Richard George Salon for many years and was later the head cook at Stewart Elementary School until her retirement. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington. Barb enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Washington Women’s Bowling Association where she received a Hall of Fame Award. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially camping, boating and fishing. Barb was a great cook and enjoyed sharing food with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Steven Bartholomew of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Amy Greiner and husband Brant of Washington, Iowa; son, Craig Bartholomew and special friend Stacee Vayan of Washington, Iowa; son, Scott Bartholomew and wife Michelle of Washington, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Jenah, Collin and Marilynn Greiner; Tegan Bartholomew; and Taylor and Clayton Bartholomew. Barb is also survived by her sister, Linda Norton of Bettendorf, Iowa; and brother, Larry Warner and wife Sally of Libertyville, Iowa; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents.
