Barbara E. Shalla

      Barbara E. Shalla, age 67, of Riverside, Iowa died Tuesday Feb. 26, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a three month battle with cancer.

      Celebration of life services will be held 1:30 pm Saturday March 1, 2008, at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Julie Poulsen officiating. Visitation will begin noon Friday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday evening. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County or the Washington Public Library.       Barb was born July 10, 1940, in Washington, Iowa the daughter of William "WJ" and Elizabeth (Rees) Shannon. She graduated from Washington High School in 1958 and later graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Drake University in 1962. On June 2, 1962 Barb was united in marriage to Larry Shalla in Washington, Iowa.
