Barbara J. Arnold

Barbara J. Arnold, 88, of Carlisle, formerly of Washington, died Thursday, July 14, 2016, in the Carlisle Center of Wellness and Rehabilitation.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 21, at the Fern Cliff Cemetery in rural Wayland with the Rev. Scott Johnson officiating. Beatty Funeral Home in Washington is assisting with arrangements.

Mrs. Arnold was born Sept. 30, 1927, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Forest and Kathryn (Mull) Loutzenhiser. She married Melvin R. Arnold on Aug. 23, 1945, in Wichita.

She and her husband moved to Des Moines, where they lived for many years, before coming to Washington to the Golden Crest Apartments.

Surviving are one daughter, Kathy Rail of Lake Zurich, Illinois; three sons, Dan Arnold and wife Laura of Allen, Texas, Dave Arnold and wife Mary of Ankeny, and Stephen Arnold of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joann Reynolds of Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin, in 2014; and one brother-in-law, Paul Reynolds.
