Barbara J. Henderson

WELLMAN ? Barbara Joan Henderson, 87, of Wellman, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, in Parkview Manor in Wellman.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Wellman Cemetery in Wellman with the Rev. Moody Colorado officiating. There will be no visitation. A memorial fund has been established for the Washington County Humane Society. The Powell Funeral Home in Wellman is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Henderson was born Feb. 9, 1927, in Washington, the daughter of Roy and Mildred (Pierce) Crossett. She married Eury Henderson on Aug. 27, 1947, in Washington.

She graduated from Washington High School in 1945. She and her husband lived in the Wellman community since their marriage, where she taught school for five years, and then worked for the United States Postal Service as a clerk for 17 years and then as a rural route carrier for 13 years. She was the first rural route carrier in Washington County. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, and of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a Past Worthy Matron and was an instructor. She enjoyed traveling, watching wildlife, and flower gardens.

Surviving are her husband, Eury, of Wellman; one sister, Rachel Pillar of Monticello, Minn.; and seven nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, James Crossett.
