Barbara K. (Askea) Burrichter, 79, of Washington, died Monday, May 13, 2024, at Parkview Manor in Wellman.

Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Beatty Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Friday, May 17, 2024, at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 4-6:00 PM. A general memorial fund has been established.

Barbara Kay Burrichter was born September 18, 1944, in Washington, IA, the daughter of Herbert and Beulah (McKune) Askea. She graduated from Washington High School in 1962. In the summer of 1963, she was united in marriage to Gerald Burrichter in Kirksville, MO, the couple later divorced. Barb attended Mercy School of Nursing in Iowa City, then moved to Chicago, IL, where she was enrolled in the Loyola University nursing program. While living in Chicago she worked as an administrative assistant at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Barb returned to Washington in 1979 and worked in sales and home health care. She graduated from the Kirkwood truck driving program. Upon receiving her CDL she was a team driver, driving for Midwestern Distributors and then a lead driver for Tomahawk Trucking. She drove coast to coast and into Canada. After leaving that job she escorted oversize loads for EBD and Raider Precast Concrete. Barb enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and working outside, and always had a dog as a companion. She was a musician, playing the accordion and the piano, playing for church and most recently playing the piano at Parkview.

Survivors include her daughter Sherri Schulze of Washington and several cousins.

Preceding Barb in death were her parents.
