Beloved Barbara Oberdieck passed away in her home in Fairfield on Sunday morning, Feb. 9, 2020, after her second long and valiant battle with cancer. Celebration of Life: 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, Cider House 1949.

She is remembered by her loving family, her husband, Tom; sister, Judy; son, Shaan; and daughter, Meara.

Barbara was a nurse, loving mother, devoted wife and pillar of inspiration and strength within the community.

Barbara was born in Chicago and spent the majority of her life helping others. As a nurse midwife, she was in attendance at more than 1,000 births. Since Barbara and her family moved to Fairfield in 1992, she always provided comfort, kindness and great food (it's widely accepted that Barbara's brownies are unmatched) to all of her loved ones. She leaves behind a legacy of empathy, courage and enormous love.
