Benjamin Thomas House

Benjamin Thomas House, 76, of rural Burlington, died at his home Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000.

      Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, in Lunning Chapel of Burlington. There will be no family visitation. A family graveside service will be held at a later date in Forrest Home Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donor?s favorite charity.

      Mr. House was born April 5, 1924, in Morning Sun, the son of Charles Henry and Zelma Harrison House. He married Dorothy Jean Hontz on Oct. 26, 1944, in New Hampton. He served in World War II from 1944 to 1946 in the U.S. Army, leaving with the rank of sergeant. A graduate of Mt. Union High School, he farmed for 17 years and worked for eight years in farm real estate. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

      Survivors include his wife; a son, Benjamin Thomas House, Jr., of Des Moines; a sister, Adra House Coghlan of Mt. Pleasant; a brother, Charles Eugene House of Verona, Wis.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, and a sister.
