Bernard Clement Carroll Jr., 82, of rural Brighton, died February 15, 2023, at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant. He was born near Mediapolis, Iowa to C. Bernard and Theresa Ethel VanNice Carroll Sr. Bernard grew up in Mediapolis and graduated from Burlington Notre Dame High School in 1958, and married Joyce Ann Baldosier of Germanville, IA. He began farming at the age of 13 and continued farming all of his life near Germanville, was an avid antique tractor collector, enjoyed Old Threshers, hunting with a double barrel 10-gauge shotgun, fishing and enjoyed traveling in the Midwest.

He is survived by his children, Debra B. Jones of Burlington, Bernard M. Carroll (Gail) of Des Moines and Gary Carroll (Diana) of rural Brighton; 3 grandchildren; and 3 siblings, Sydney Carroll, Connie Ghiesalhart and Joann Ryner. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Funeral services will be held at Gould Funeral home in Brighton at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, February 21, 2023, with Rev. Ryan Dexter officiating. Burial will follow in the Germanville Union Free Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6 – 8 P.M. Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials to the Brighton Volunteer First Responders may be left at the funeral home or mailed to 3049 155th Street, Brighton, IA 52540. Gould Funeral Home of Brighton is in charge of arrangements.
