Bernice “Bunny” Ogden, a cherished resident of Hillcrest Grand Lodge in Papillion, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025. Honoring her wishes, Bunny’s body was donated to Creighton Medical School in Nebraska, with inurnment of her remains to take place at a later date.
Born on August 25, 1937, near Fairfield, Iowa, Bunny was the 10th of 12 children of Joseph and Laura Buckingham. She married the love of her life, Wendyl Ogden, on June 10, 1956, at the Church of the Brethren near Libertyville, Iowa.
A 1954 graduate of Fairfield High School, Bunny later completed her nursing degree at St. Joseph's College of Nursing in Ottumwa, Iowa. As a dedicated nurse and a farmer's wife, she made her home in Jefferson County, Iowa, for most of her life. In 2013, Bunny moved to Papillion, Nebraska, to be closer to her daughter, Peggy Tracey, and her family.
Bunny is survived by her daughters, Peggy Tracey (Andrew) of Nebraska and Kelly Chezum (Brian) of New York; her beloved grandchildren, Stephanie Tracey and her children, Katherine and Jack of Nebraska; Amanda Tracey of Massachusetts and Cade Chezum of New York.
A woman of deep faith, Bunny was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder and contributed to the broader church community through her involvement in state and national Presbytery activities. She was a proud member of Presbyterian Women and dedicated countless hours to mentoring young people as a 4-H leader and judge. Her warmth and guidance touched many lives.
Bunny found joy in her connections with others, particularly her sisters in PEO, Questers, and the Hall China community, where her passion for antiques flourished.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Wendyl Ogden, her parents, and nine of her siblings.
Bunny’s legacy of love, kindness, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
