Bernice May Bailey, 94, Burlington, died Feb. 17 at Great River Medical Center Klein Center in West Burlington.
Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. The family will also receive friends at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Vicki Engelmann officiating. Burial will be at Edwards Cemetery in rural Oakville at 2 p.m.
A memorial has been established for St. Luke's United Church of Christ.
She was born June 20, 1913, in Muscatine, the daughter of Laurence and Fern Willard Kuechmann. On July 11, 1930, she married Harold Bailey in Wapello.
She worked for Schramns and was manager of House of Fabrics. She attended St. Luke's United Church of Christ. She was a member of Ruth Chapter Kings Daughters, League of Women Voters, and Burlington Business and Professional Women.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Pershing of West Burlington and Marilyn Brau and her husband Leo of Mt. Pleasant; 11 grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and a special nephew, Bernard Conroy of Chicago.
Her husband, two sisters, two brothers, and two grandchildren preceded her in death.
