Bertha Elizabeth Kaltefleiter, 95, of Franklin, died Friday, Feb. 1, at her home.
Visitation began at 1 p.m. today, Feb. 4, at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home and Crematory in West Point. A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. The family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point with the Rev. Apo T. Mpanda as celebrant. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in West Point.
Memorials have been established for Lee County Hospice and St. Mary's Catholic Church of West Point.
She was born Aug. 1, 1912, northwest of Ft. Madison, the daughter of Fred and Mary Lake Kramer. On June 25, 1935, she married Maurice Kaltefleiter Sr. in Ft. Madison.
She retired from Sheaffer Pen Company. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, the Altar and Rosary Society of the church, and of the Red Hat Pampered Pals.
She is survived by her daughter, Dolores "Cotton" Olson of Franklin; her son, Maurice Kaltefleiter Jr., of Franklin; four sisters, Martha Fraise of Franklin, Ruth Lampe of Washington, Marcella Rippenkroeger and her husband Ervin of Ft. Madison, and Rosemary Boyer of Franklin; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Tucker of West Point; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Her parents, husband, brothers Leonard, Alfred, and Morris and sister Lavern preceded her in death.
