Bertha L. Earnest

      Bertha L. Earnest, age 96, died Monday January 29, 2007 at Brownlee Health Center at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington following a short illness.

      Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Thursday February 1, 2007 at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Jean Wollenberg officiating. Visitation begins at 9:00 am Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Wednesday evening. Interment will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in rural Washington. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Cemetery or Brownlee Health Center at the United Presbyterian Home.       Bertha L. Earnest was born February 8, 1910 in Washington County, the daughter of Earl R. and Naomi (Baker) Kephart. She attended No. 4 School and graduated from Washington High School. Bertha married Jacob Earnest on December 16, 1943 at her parents' home in rural Washington. She was a farm wife who enjoyed her family, her garden, embroidery, and her home. Bertha was a life long member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church.
